| Dora doesn't really have a set physical description, but if she's not thinking about it, she tends to settle into a small-but-sturdy, somewhat pale and freckly frame, with a heart-shaped face and wavy hair in some shade of pink. |
"Don't call me Nymphadora, Remus," said the young witch with a shudder, "it's Tonks."
"Nymphadora Tonks, who prefers to be known by her surnmae only," finished Lupin.
"So would you if your fool of a mother had called you Nymphadora," muttered Tonks. |
Nymphadora Tonks is clumsy. That is one of the first things anyone will learn about her. Shortly after that, they'll learn that she is a Hufflepuff and a Metamorphmagus, in no particular order. She never introduces herself with her full name, preferring to go by either "Dora" or "Tonks", for obvious reasons.
She is a half-blood witch, her mother is Andromeda Black (Bellatrix and Narcissa's sister), and her father is a muggle named Ted Tonks. She was born and grew up during Voldemort's first rise to power - she was eight years old when the Potters were killed and Sirius Black (her mother's cousin) was sent to Azkaban. She hadn't been very close to James or Lily, though she had met them, but Sirius had been her mother's favorite cousin, and after his arrest, Remus Lupin spent many holidays at the Tonks household.
She's in her fifth year at Hogwarts, studying for her OWLs - she wants to be an auror - and is thick as thieves with two Gryffindor brothers named Bill and Charlie Weasley. Charlie is in Dora's year, and she has a rather hopeless crush on him. |
"What can I do, Molly?" said Tonks enthusiastically, bounding forwards.
Mrs. Weasley hesitated, looking apprehensive. "Er - no, it's alright Tonks, you have a rest too, you've done enough today."
"No, no, I want to help!" said Tonks brightly, knocking over a chair as she hurried towards the dresser, from which Ginny was collecting cutlery. |
| Dora's room is very... unbreakable. Most everything is made from metal or durable plastic, in bright colors. She has a bed, a desk, a bookcase, a cupboard full of potions ingredients, a cauldron and other magical supplies, and a closet of clothes. There are a few posters on the walls, mostly of musicians, both wizards and muggles. |
